  • FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

How often should my carpets be cleaned?

The majority of carpet manufacturers recommend carpet cleaning by a professional carpet cleaning firm such as TDP Property Solutions every 12 months.

The time frame may vary with individual needs such as environment, traffic, children or pets, which usually require that carpet be cleaned more frequently.

Carpet manufacturers also recommend cleaning firms such as TDP Property Solutions because of the knowledge and training required to provide effective cleaning.

What method does TDP Property Solutions use?

We use the Hot Water Extraction method in conjunction with a type of equipment known as a truck mount &/or portable.

Hot water/detergent solution is injected with pressure, soil is suspended and wet vacuum simultaneously removes soil and excess moisture.

The water in our equipment reaches high temperatures, helping to loosen the majority of soils. These soils can then be removed with the high vacuum generated by this same machine.

Why does TDP Property Solutions use this method?

Hot Water Extraction is the method of choice by most carpet manufacturers because of its greater effectiveness for removing soils and leaving your carpet looking its best.

How long will it take for my carpet to dry?

It normally takes 6 – 8 hours for the carpet to feel dry enough to walk on, but is typically not completely dry for 24 hours.

You can walk on the carpet right after cleaning, provided you wear socks or some kind of foot covering to keep oils on your feet from getting into the damp carpet.

How can I keep my carpet looking good?

Vacuuming your carpet thoroughly every week will make a major difference in maintaining your carpet.

Fact is that 74-79% of the soil in your carpet is insoluble particulate or fibrous nature. This is the reason why TDP Property Solutions begins every cleaning job by thoroughly vacuuming your carpet or upholstery.

How should I treat the spots if my pet has an accident?

The key is to blot up as much of the foreign matter as you can. Then flush the spot with a professional spot neutralizer. Now take a clean towel and blot, don’t scrub, the spot.

If you treat a spot with one of the over the counter products, you may change the chemical make-up of that spot. Just blot with a clean white towel.

Call a professional carpet cleaner as soon as convenient to prevent changes in the appearance of your carpet.

What happens with other stains on my carpet?

Most stains should not be treated with one of the consumer products found in supermarkets. You are more likely to set the stain or cause further discoloration.

These products are generally intended for emergency use only and can cause problems even when instructions are followed closely.

A better solution would be to call a professional carpet cleaning company like TDP Property Solutions at your earliest convenience: we have the products and the knowledge to neutralize a wide variety of carpet staining problems.
