I have a generac generator that has the fuel shutoff solenoid on the bottom of the carb. I tore the carb apart and cleaned it and put it back on. If i shoot fuel into the carb it fires but only runs till i let off the start switch. My question is how do you know if that solenoid is bad?

Since the 12 valve only needs power for the solenoid and the starter it wouldn't affect any other systems. I would check all your fuses in the engine bay fuse bank.
